GEO-ENERGY RESEARCH

Our team aims to secure future energy supply from geothermal energy (Hydrogen) and reduce the environmental impact of greenhouse CO2 emissions by better understanding the geochemistry of various geological formations.

My research aims to understand the concepts and complex mechanisms of underground energy storage of CO2 and H2. I use advanced techniques and technologies to explore the technical feasibility of underground geological storage. Our research group is innovative and unique and always comes with top-notch ideas and research projects, that provide practical solutions for industry and government bodies.

ABOUT ME

Through hard work and dedication, I believe I will reach a point in my career where I become a professional research scientist. I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Integrative Petroleum Research (CIPR) at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), where I mainly work on geo-energy research, aiming to develop solutions to challenging geochemical problems and ensuring sustainable, reliable, and affordable energy future for our planet. My research lies at the crossroads of CO2 & H2 storage, wettability and IFT, unconventional formations, and enhanced oil recovery (EOR). You are welcome to look at our published work and feel free to get in touch for more information about my work.

RESEARCH PROJECTS

The Derive of our Research

Our research involves investigating geo-energy storage applications in underground formation, which can help in the transition to a low-carbon energy industry and significantly reduce the impact of greenhouse gas emissions. The strength of our research lies in the breadth and depth of the experimental and statistical approaches we utilize in understanding the mechanisms of fluid-rock interactions and the implications on overall storage potential. Learn more about our ongoing research projects below.

HYDROGEN STORAGE

We still have only a very limited understanding of underground Hydrogen storage. Answering questions about this is essential for understanding the role hydrogen plays as a clean source of energy in the future. Our team is currently investigating various aspects of UHS applications, and evaluating the challenges and issues in applying this technology.
